Corporate cover rarely equals complete family cover. Map inpatient, outpatient, maternity, and dental gaps explicitly while on EP — foreigners generally cannot fund ISP premiums from MediSave until PR. After PR, MediShield Life is automatic; an Integrated Shield Plan (ISP) is optional private top-up — compare MOH’s official ISP table, premiums payable from MediSave within limits, and riders that often need cash. Maternity riders (e.g. Mum2Baby-style products) usually need long waiting periods and still exclude routine delivery and antenatal visits; newborn hospitalisation often opens around day 14 with full declarations. AIA is one of several large brands — compare exclusions and waiting periods, not ads. Treat group schedules as employment-tied: confirm cover end dates with HR when resigning or changing jobs, and do not assume maternity or NICU sits inside a basic inpatient cap. When comparing AIA hospital or outpatient riders, ask specifically whether physiotherapy sessions and optical benefits are reimbursable lines or brochure soft-extras — EP families often discover the gap after the third cash physio visit. Check clinic panel lists against your actual neighbourhood and school run — panel geography matters on admission day. Family ops note: clinic panels and outpatient ENT claims should be checked before winter-fair travel weeks — paperwork is not a midnight project. Family ops: outpatient asthma follow-ups still need a daytime adult — do not assume both EPs can “monitor between meetings.”
