Work with an adviser who will put exclusions in writing. EP-year foreigner hospital plans and post-PR Integrated Shield Plans are different products — do not assume MediSave funding until you are SC/PR on MediShield Life. Maternity and newborn riders need waiting-period maths before conception; a smooth delivery already underway is almost never covered. If you may leave Singapore in 2–3 years, ask about portability and surrender paths before you buy. Group medical from an employer usually ends on your last employment day and does not port to the next firm; price personal top-ups before elective care during a job hop. Cross-check against the private health insurance category guide and compareFIRST for life products — hospital schedules still need the insurer’s written table. Probe outpatient physiotherapy and optical wording before you bind — many expat plans treat rehab as a capped outpatient bucket or exclude it once you leave the employer group scheme. Family ops note: hospitalisation riders do not cover lice chaos — keep outbreak ops in the family calendar, not in an insurance fantasy.
