When e-Apostille is the wrong first move

Singapore has affixed Apostilles for outbound docs since the Convention entered into force here (16 Sep 2021). MFA no longer legalises outbound Singapore public documents — SAL is the competent authority.
Cost-control checklist
- Email the overseas school / court / registry: e-Apostille OK?
- If the doc is an ACRA extract on the eligible list, price the S$10.70 direct e-Apostille before paying notary rates.
- For private packs, pick a notary on the SAL directory who participates in the e-Apostille for notarised documents pilot if you want digital delivery.
- Keep the verification link / PDF with the underlying document — renewals love repeat stamps.
Decision rule
Ask the recipient format first, then choose ACRA direct e-Apostille, notary e-Apostille, or paper. Direction-of-travel and LTVP translation folklore stay on notary & apostille; embassy renewals sit on passports & overseas documents.
