Mover lift / loading-bay booking

Lock the service lift and loading bay before the truck deposit — estates fill month-end Saturdays first.

Last reviewed 2026-09-15

Leaving a condo or HDB with a container or 3-tonne — book the service lift, loading bay, and pad protection early enough that movers day is not an improvised lobby argument.

Book the lift before you book the movers’ truck

Many estates only release one service lift and a short loading-bay window per day. Peak month-end and school-holiday Saturdays fill first. Confirm the managing agent’s booking form, deposit, and blackout dates before you pay a non-refundable mover deposit that assumes a 09:00 start.

  • Ask for written lift + bay confirmation with date, time block, and lift ID
  • Align mover ETA to the estate window — not the other way around
  • Keep a buffer slot if IPA / IR21 / flight dates still move

Forms, deposits, and pad protection

Expect a renovation-style or move-in/out form, refundable lift deposit, and rules on floor pads, corner guards, and forbidding passenger-lift use. Some MCST offices only process weekday mornings. Photograph the empty lift and lobby before and after so deposit disputes stay boring.

  • Bring passport / FIN and tenancy or SPA proof as the office requires
  • Clarify whether the mover or tenant pays the lift deposit
  • Ask who supplies protective pads if the estate requires them

HDB vs condo quirks

HDB blocks often share lifts with neighbours and may restrict weekend or late-evening moves more tightly. Condos add loading-bay height limits, IU access for trucks, and clubhouse-adjacent noise rules. Do not assume the playbook that worked in one estate works in the next.

  • Measure truck height vs basement / canopy clearance
  • Confirm whether a second trip needs a second booking
  • Tell neighbours via the estate channel when the rules ask for notice

Same-day stack: utilities, keys, and cards

Lift morning + utility final meter + key handover in one afternoon is a common failure mode. Sequence so the truck clears before management-office card return closes. If access cards die at noon, movers still inside the unit become an expensive problem.

  • Keep one authorised adult with live access until the truck leaves
  • Do not schedule card return before the last box is out
  • Photograph meters after movers finish, not before

If you still drive here

Movers week is a bad week to discover your foreign-licence conversion clock already expired. Sketch the conversion deadline separately so rental vans, Grab, or a helper’s errands are not your only mobility plan on load-out day.

  • Check /tools/foreign-licence-clock before you cancel the car
  • Do not plan to “just drive on the foreign licence forever”
  • Keep one legal mobility option through movers day

Rain, slip fees, and rebooking

Tropical afternoon storms cancel open-air bay slots. Ask the mover and the estate what a weather slip costs and how fast a replacement bay can be booked. A written rebooking path beats arguing in the rain with a half-loaded container.

  • Get the mover’s weather / waiting-time clause in writing
  • Know the estate’s next available bay before you need it
  • Budget an extra half-day float in the leave cash plan
