Missed EPSC slot & Notification Letter extension
Companion to EP rejection/IPA issuance rails — Notification Letter one-month travel/work window, two-week EPSC biometrics clock, what to do if the slot slips, and why IPA-only travel is still a bad idea.
Short answer: Diary letter end date and EPSC deadline the hour the email arrives — missed slots need HR rebook/extension, not a JB hop.
Issuance parent: work pass issuance / EPSC / Notification. Rejection / IPA adjacency: EP rejection & IPA. This companion is the missed biometrics slot failure mode — letter validity vs calendar chaos.
Two clocks after issuance
Once the employer issues the pass, MOM emails a Notification Letter (EP orientation: about 1 month of work/travel proof while the card prints). If the letter requires registration, finish EPSC fingerprints/photo within about 2 weeks of issuance (verify live). Missing the slot does not silently extend either clock.
| Slip | First move |
|---|---|
| EPSC appointment after the 2-week window | Ask HR to rebook and confirm whether the letter still requires registration |
| EPSC after the Notification Letter end date | Ask employer to request a letter extension before it expires |
| Letter in HR inbox only | Get it forwarded to you the same day — you travel/work on that PDF |
| “I’ll EPSC after JB” | Finish issuance first — travel before card |
HR ask list the day the letter lands
- Validity end date on my Notification Letter copy
- Does this letter require EPSC? By when?
- Who books EPSC — me or the agent — and what if the next slot is past the clock?
- Card delivery address / authorised collector
- Written plan if letter extension is needed
Decision rule
Diary letter end date and EPSC deadline the hour the email arrives. Slot slips are an HR extension problem — not a tourist hop while you “figure it out.”
Questions, answered
- What happens if I miss my EPSC biometrics appointment?
- Ask HR to rebook immediately and confirm whether your Notification Letter still requires registration. Missing the slot does not silently extend the letter or the EPSC clock.
- How long is the Notification Letter usually valid?
- EP orientation is about one month of work/travel proof while the card prints — verify the end date on your own letter copy the day it lands.
- How soon after issuance must I finish EPSC if the letter requires it?
- About two weeks from issuance is the usual orientation window when registration is required — confirm the deadline on your letter and with HR; do not invent extra days.
- Can I travel on IPA alone before the Notification Letter / card?
- IPA-only travel is still a bad idea for most people. Finish issuance, hold your Notification Letter PDF, and read the travel-before-card parent before any hop.
- Who requests a Notification Letter extension if EPSC slips past the letter end date?
- The employer. Ask HR to request a letter extension before expiry — slot slips are an HR extension problem, not a tourist hop while you figure it out.
