Can tenants demand condo CCTV footage from the MA?
You can request it in writing with date, time, and camera location. Release is controlled by the MCST/MA under PDPA and estate policy — there is no automatic same-day download for every resident.
Is corridor CCTV the same as a landlord putting a camera inside my unit?
No. Common-property cameras are an MCST product. In-unit cameras without consent are a quiet-enjoyment / privacy fight with the landlord, not the MA footage desk.
How long is footage usually kept?
Retention windows are estate-specific and often short (days to a few weeks). Ask quickly after an incident and put the request timestamp in email.
Do I need a police report before the MA will help?
Many MAs ask for a police report or insurer letter for third-party release. Start the MA ticket immediately either way so the clip is not overwritten.
Can I install my own doorbell camera facing the common corridor?
Usually only with written MCST/MA approval and aiming rules. Unapproved cameras that capture common property or neighbours’ doors are a frequent by-law complaint.
